Assistant DON/MDS Coordinator
Newton Village has a rare openings for a Director of Nursing (DON) and a Full-Time Assistant Director of Nursing/ MDS Coordinator to join our 5-star rated, award-winning team. In addition to generous benefits, we’re offering a $7,500 Bonus for the DON position and a $5,000 Bonus for the ADON/MDS Coordinator position.
These are Full-Time, benefit eligible positions.
Director of Nursing (DON) responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, lead, and supervise our entire nursing department in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Ensure our residents’ physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being needs are met.
- Develop and maintain nursing schedules.
- Promote and demonstrate excellence within our multi-disciplinary team.
- Develop methods for coordination of all resident services to ensure the continuity of person-centered care.
- Meet expectations for participation in reimbursement programs in effort to maintain our reputation for quality of care.
- Lead change efforts and promote innovations in resident care.
- Have clinical creativity to manage department within state, federal and professional guidelines.
- Maintain the highest standard for providing resident care through exceptional hiring, training, and mentoring programs.
- Assist in development and compliance of the nursing budget.
- Assist on the floor and fill in as needed.
Director of Nursing (DON) skills and requirements:
- Must have previous healthcare management or supervisory experience.
- Prior Director of Nursing (DON) experience preferred.
- Must have a current IA Registered Nurse license and be in good standing.
- Leadership expertise, demonstrated clinical and assessment competencies.
- Strong team-building and communication skills are required, along with excellent professional and supportive supervisory experience.
ADON/ MDS responsibilities:
- Oversee and complete MDS and care planning.
- Manage and assign tasks to nursing staff on the assigned unit.
- Complete all documentation for RAI and MDS assessments and observations.
- Develop initial and temporary care plans.
- Assist Case Manager with Medicare scheduling, monthly billing, charting, and issuing notices of non-coverage.
- Document and maintain paperwork, referral records, and reports.
- Work in collaboration with Admissions staff, and Case Manager.
- Display a courteous attitude and respect for all residents, families, and staff.
- Assist on the floor and fill in as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
ADON/ MDS responsibilities:
- Must have current IA Registered Nursing license, AANAC certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ nursing experience required.
- Experience with MDS preferred.
- Proficient in computer software.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
