Provide and document direct care of patients in the outpatient setting under the supervision of a physician or advanced practice provider.  Care is guided by office policies and procedures, physician orders and standing orders.  Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols, mediation administration and storage procedures and controlled substance regulations.

Completion of annual education requirements and maintenance of regulatory requirements for clinical practice.

Maintain documentation standards with accurate, timely, and complete recording in the EMR for patient visits to the assigned office and also for telephone and web-based encounters.  Uses telephone and/or web-based means to communicate provider instructions and plan of care to patients and families.

Assist physicians or advanced practice providers in the performance of office based procedures.

Performs other duties within the scope of MA practice as assigned by 501a leadership.

Obtain Prior Authorizations on medications, procedures and imaging studies as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous Clinic Healthcare experience.  Required.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of the care and treatment of patients and procedures that apply to vocational nursing. Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively. Working knowledge of infection control procedures, sterile techniques and safety precautions that are applicable to work performed. Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable to work in a hospital.
  • Maintains current BLS certification, and /or other specialized life support requirements designated by work area or organization.
